Thanks for coming to visit the HEARTLINGS. They were designed from an up-side-down heart to make feelings come alive and to help people say what they feel.Their history demonstrates their remarkable power to communicate.

I penned a daily cartoon from 1983 to 1990. The cartoon ran in the Maryville-Alcoa Daily Times, the Knoxville News Sentinel, the Sevier County’s Mountain Press, and the Cleveland Daily Banner in Tennessee. In Georgia, they could be found in the Carrollton Times Georgian, and on the west coast, in California’s LaJolla Light.

Because each cartoon puts feelings into the perfect words, they were clipped, collected and traded, taped on refrigerators, file cabinets and lockers. They were sent all over the world in letters. They were cut out of the newspapers and used like greeting cards between husbands and wives, friends and family, children and adults. The fan club grew to 10,000 people, and I manufactured plush, figurines, books, stickers, and Tshirts.

And now they’re back, but instead of a daily newspaper cartoon, friends, old and new, can receive a Heartling-a-Day via email. Every day the HEARTLINGS will arrive for you to print and keep, or forward to a loved one to tell them what you’re feeling: love, friendship, loneliness, excitement, stress or encouragement.
